the author
Jim Franklin has always found the interesting exit off the expected road.
Born in Illinois and raised around farm life, he entered radio young, earning his FCC license at fifteen before working as an announcer and DJ in markets from Detroit and Cincinnati to San Francisco’s legendary KQAK, The Quake. Later, he moved into telecommunications, founded Caribbean Telephone & Telegraph, sold it to MCI, and built a successful real estate career in Palm Springs.
Today, Jim lives in Palm Springs with his wife, Tammy. Trailer Chic brings together his humor, desert perspective, and lifelong gift for turning real life into stories worth repeating. With every page, Jim proves that the best stories often come from the most unexpected places.
